Letter from C.A.L. president...
Dear Artists, Friends and Visitors: These are not easy times that we are living in, especially for artists. Whether working at art for a living - creating it and/or teaching it - or pursuing it as a serious extracurricular interest, it is a challenge for most of us to find enough time to work in our preferred medium. There are so many things that persistently press in on us to distract us, demanding our full and immediate attention. As soon as we resolve one situation, it seems that another one pops up in its place. I believe that scheduling creative time has become more important than ever. So many of us have found success in taking studio classes, counting on that precious class time to elicit that form of expression that seems to elude us in our creative spaces at home. Others have found that by packing up their art materials and moving themselves to a plein air setting, they are able to concentrate on yielding that piece of art that they desire to produce. We at the Cheshire Art League highly value the creative venues that our organization makes available. Within our community, we can speak that language that only we understand best and can share the encouragement that is gleaned from our personal experiences and self-education. Recognizing that, as the expression goes, iron sharpens iron, we can bounce ideas off of each other, knowing that our creative colleagues have our best interest foremost in their minds. The Cheshire Art League is a group of dedicated artists and art lovers who have a reputation for impartially assisting each other to face and even enjoy overcoming their creative challenges. When we get together at our meetings, programs, and events, we generate a very dynamic atmosphere for promoting individual creativity. We extend a very warm and sincere welcome to you to gather together with us to benefit from and contribute to this positive creative interchange. Sincerly, Joan Shackford C.A.L. President - 2009 |
