About Tom Mayer:

Tom is a retired public school art teacher who now divides his time between “plein air” painting on location throughout New England, exhibiting his paintings regionally and as an instructor for several community art programs. He also creates, trades and collects altered and hand-made postcards from around the world. He will be sharing his collection during the workshop.
As an introduction to our upcoming Post Card Art Show, to be held in January 2009, the Cheshire Art League will be hosting a hands-on workshop focusing on the creation of altered and hand-made post cards. This will be held at our monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 11, at 7:00 PM, at The Picture Framer. Local artist and C.A.L. member, Tom Mayer, will lead this workshop.

A number of materials and tools will be available for use at this workshop. Participants are also encouraged to bring any supplies (paper &/or fabric scraps for collaging, craft knife, scissors, pens, colored pencils, watercolors, etc.) that may be related to the medium that they prefer to work in, or that they would like to share with others to use.

The Post Card Art Show will be on exhibit at The Picture Framer Gallery during the month of January, with the opening reception date and time to be announced. The post card art will be for sale, with the proceeds being used to help fund future programs and meet other financial obligations of the Cheshire Art League. We are hoping that all members will participate by creating at least one small work of art for this purpose.
