Bernie's interest in art has been a lifelong pursuit. Growing up on the Connecticut shore, he paints what he loves, the coastline and marshes where he spent many idle hours of his youth.

After drawing his way through childhood, he attended the University of Connecticut and went on from there to continue his studies at the Lyme Academy of fine Art. There he was awarded a John Stobart Fellowship as he received his BFA along with his first one man show in 1997.

Whether working on the Connecticut coastline or in Northern New England and Canada Bernie creates scenes of natural beauty as seen through the eyes of an artist, revealing a great depth of understanding of nature and the environment Of course, his talents are not limited to landscapes. Portraits and still life works appear throughout his diverse portfolio.

He has displayed his work in various art shows and one man shows in Connecticut, New Hampshire and Rhode Island, where he has received several awards of distinction.

Bernie's work has been included in the Annual Exhibition of Connecticut Artists at the Slater Museum in Norwich, The Connecticut Academy of Fine Artists, The New Britain Museum of Art, New Haven Paint and Clay Club, Connecticut Plein Air Painters Annual Members Show,Grenning Gallery in Sag Harbor, NY, and several art associations in the area, including The Lyme Art Association, Mystic Art Association, Essex Art Association, Guilford Art Association, and is an elected member of the Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society.
