Plein-Air Tradition
by Mike Berlinski

Event Date, Time & Location:
Tuesday, September 8, 2009 at 7:00 PM
Cheshire Senior Center, 240 Maple Avenue, Cheshire, CT.

"I began drawing and painting at the age of seven. I am basically self-taught and work primarily with oil paints in the Plein-Air tradition. This form of working outdoors grew out of my vacations, on Cape Cod and Cape Ann, Massachusetts, Where the natural beauty of the landscape is overwhelming. I continue to paint the shorelines in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. In fact, people regularly purchase my coastline paintings right off the easel.
"From the shore, I turned my love of natural phenomenon inland to the beauty and liveliness of trees and their surroundings. Most of my paintings are completed in one session. This is called Alla Prima. I consider myself a true and traditional painter with a love of the natural world and its possibilities for expression."
