John O'Keefe is a relative newcomer to the professional art scene. Starting his own fine art business in 2007 after an eighteen year long career in mechanical design/engineering, John has focused his attention on painting landscapes in the style of the Hudson River School painters of the 19th century. He works out of his home studio and his paintings can takes several weeks to complete because he uses a variety of methods and techniques. John will walk us through his painting process from conception to completion using in-progress painting examples, a slide presentation, and questions and answers.
In his three years working as an artist, John has exhibited his work at the Cate Charles Gallery, Lyme Art Gallery, Mystic Art Center, the Salmagundi Club, and at exhibitions sponsored by the Cheshire Art League, SCAN of Newtown, CT., and other events sponsored by local businesses. John holds associate membership with the Lyme Art Association and Mystic Art Association. He is also a member of The Salmagundi Club, Cheshire Art League, Landscape Artist's International, and Oil Painters of America. His paintings have won awards and he had the recent honor of being a featured artist at the "17th Annual Associate Artist's Exhibit" sponsored by the Lyme Art Association. John continues to develop his painting skills as he pursues a career in the arts.
